I have noticed that when it comes to difficult to tackle skin problems, natural ingredients are the surest and safest bet. FabIndia has been coming up with some great products in past years and no wonder company has witnessed a steady growth. While we can’t avoid everything artificial, we can still try to be as natural as can be. Today I am reviewing a much raved product of FabIndia. Some even mention it as the best foot cream available in India for now.

Product:  FabIndia Avocado Foot Cream

Price:  INR 350 for 100 grams

INR 150 for 100 gms about 2 yrs back

Directions of Use:

Wash and scrub your feet before using this cream. Apply liberally and massage onto feet, paying close attention to heels and calloused skin. Cover your feet with cotton socks overnight to seal in moisture.

Patch test is recommended before use. Store in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight. For external use only. FabIndia is against animal testing. Natural Ingredients may cloud or separate. This does not affect the quality or efficacy of the product.

Purified water, urea, Isopropyl palmitate, glycerine, petrolatum, Emulsifying wax, Beeswax, Cetyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Imid Urea, Methyl Paraben, Disodium EDTA, Avocado Oil and Propyl Paraben.

Thick texture!

My Experience:

If you have taken anything from FabIndia before, you would recognize their typical tub pack. This foot cream comes in a similar tub with a protective lid below to avoid spillage (though mine is a bit smaller tub -50ml as I got it as a part of a bigger hamper). Open it and find a thick smooth cream with a light green tint (from avocado) that feels thick and sticky on fingers while scooping out of the tub. Smell is mild and pleasantly of avocados and nothing very irritating or stifling.

I like to use it at night after scrubbing my feet and soaking them in salted lukewarm water for 5-7mins. I then like to cover it with socks for about an hour till I read books. Though one can keep the socks on through the night, I find socks very restrictive. This cream gets absorbed fast and doesn’t feel slippery after 1 hr of application. If it still does, it means you are applying far more than needed. Those with normal skin should use in lesser amounts than dry skinned people.

A small amount is enough and a small tub goes for a long way. Though the FabIndia website recommends using this twice a day, I would skip it in the mornings so as to avoid slipping in a haste getting ready for work (and not even having 1 hr to spare them in socks and get sinked in)!

Feet and heels feel smoother in just 1-2 uses. I noticed that it heals minor cracks quiet fast but may take 3-4 weeks for deeper crevices.

As for the natural ingredients: Avocados are a rich source of healthy fatty acids, vitamins and anti-oxidants for skin while Beeswax is an effective antioxidant which locks in the moisture, fosters cells of the skin and creates a long-lasting protective barrier against pollution and dry weather conditions.

A word of caution: Wash your feet before heading out to work the next morning as very minute amount will still be there on your feet and may cause slips while coming in contact with water.

I would surely buy it again especially in winters.

Pros and Cons:

For its evaluation, here we go:

  1. Very small amount is required for single use, so runs for a long while.
  2. Pleasant mild fragrance of avocado.
  3. Quickly absorbs mostly into skin.
  4. Can be used in summers- gets absorbed well.
  5. Not tested on animals.
  6. Natural ingredients.
  7. Works great for hands, elbows and knees

  1. Not Travel friendly. May leak in summers.
  2. Tub packaging is a bit messy.
  3. Contains Parabens which harm environment.
  4. May need refrigeration in summers so it doesn’t get runny.
  5. Cost increasing steeply over the past years (see above).

My Verdict:

I have found this cream to be luxuriously hydrating which produces noticeable favourable effects after every use. The longer I used, the better results were noticed.

I would however recommend patch testing before use in order to avoid any allergies. Definitely recommend this for dry feet and sore cracked heels. I never had deep cracks in my life and so can’t comment in this regard but I still believe that daily use with heal them sooner or later! It is one of the best creams for heels in the market at present.

Star Ratings:  4.5/5 Stars

Online Availability:

Flipkart and Amazon may run out of the products quiet fast. So don’t be disheartened and wait for a few days to be restocked.
