FabIndia Neem Tulsi Gel Scrub Review

Share and Spread Ideas:

Owing to my propensity for naturally derived organic skin care solutions, I frequently buy from FabIndia and Khadi (Online India or in shops). One of the latest tries these days is FabIndia Neem Tulsi Gel Face and Body scrub that I want to give an unbiased true review about. Hence for today blogging about-

Product:  FabIndia Neem Tulsi Gel Scrub for Face and Body

Price:  INR 225 for 100ml in 2012

INR 390 for 100ml in 2017 now

Our Body and face gel scrub, especially formulated for daily use is made with natural active ingredients. It gently exfoliates the skin leaving you feeling refreshed and invigorated all day long.

Directions of Use:

Apply a scoop of scrub to wet skin and gently massage all over the body in circular motion, focusing on rough skin areas. Rinse and clean thoroughly.

Purified water, propylene Glycol, Walnut Shell powder, Carbopol 940, Aloe Vera extract, Neem Leaves, Phenoxyethanol, Lactic Acid, Neem oil, Tulsi oil, Allantoin.

My Experience:

This cute gel scrub comes in a transparent tub with screw motion lid. It’s covered all over with a light green label.  Coming to the product itself, it’s a clear gel with green and brownish particles that are crushed walnut shell and Neem leaves. It has a very light fragrance that lingers for a tiny while after washing and then fades off.

The particles/ granules in the gel are neither too light nor too harsh for exfoliating delicate skin like that of face but feel very light for body scrubbing. Though it’s also labelled as a body scrub, it’s better off as a facial scrub only. See how small the tub is considering one uses it on body! Lol…

Advantage of adding neem to this scrub is that neem is known to reduce sebaceous gland secretions from facial skin and hence has an added advantage of clearing blackheads and whiteheads on regular use.

I like to store this gel in Chiller tray of the refrigerator and use it cold. Then apply and distribute evenly on face and let rest for 5 mins followed by scrubbing with wet hands. Why? Just my Idea. That way it feels more relaxing that way. After using 4-5 times, I didn’t feel any decrease in tan but blackheads were tad better.

And no, it won’t lather if you were expecting that in a face wash. I sometimes find that a bit irritating but maybe that’s just a bad obsession anyway.  Lather is majorly formed due to chemicals that may not be good for you. So that shouldn’t be worth bothering.

Pros and Cons:

Now to the final evaluation below:

  1. Its smell and texture is light and delightful.
  2. Granules are not very harsh to facial skin- ideal for mild exfoliation purposes (as on daily basis).
  3. Doesn’t irritate skin or cause any breakouts.
  4. Great for sensitive skin and oily skin types. Nothing very oily here! Gel base is not greasy and so is easy on oily skins.

  1. Though the tub has a screw-cap, I noticed it spilled in summers out on the clothes in my bag even after careful packaging. I guess screw-cap doesn’t guarantee any leak-proofing.

A Pro Tip: Storing in Fridge before short distance Travels can cause less chances of spillage as gel will solidify a bit.

  1. Great for sensitive skin and oily skin types. Nothing very oily here! Gel base is not greasy and so is easy on oily skins.
  2. Need to scoop out the gel with your fingers- hygiene issues?
  3. Doesn’t lather, if that matters to you.
  4. Smell doesn’t last long- maybe for 2mins or so. Does that even qualify for the term ‘lingering’?
  5. Tub amount is too less for body scrubbing- may last for 3 baths or so.
  6. Too mild consistency to exfoliate body’s skin.
  7. Price: You have seen the price comparison in this article above over past few years. All that for only 100ml of light gel naturals based product. So you decide for yourself.

My Verdict:

I might buy this again for my face in my changing mood swings but not in full senses. A cute Romanticized product one needs once in a while but not every day. Nothing offensive, it may work better for someone than it did for me. So give it a try.

Star Rating :  2.5/5 Stars
